JWleaks, what a stonking story about the LDS name attached to the bunker video.
Fantastic!
Btw what exactly is "prepper", I have never heard it this side of the pond.
i guess you are guaranteed to survive the "great tribulation" if you don't be a "kevin".
my family members are doubling down on their fervor about meeting attendance.
they are having an effect on some of my wishy washy long time inactive family.

the watchtower today says not to think of sex, or to have sexual fantasies.
i'm just wondering... how many people in the hall hearing this watchtower today would be having sexual fantasies?
sitting there thinking about sister hottie or brother hunky ?.
These clowns in the GB are not just out of touch with their youth but out of touch with the reality of life. No sexual imagination means no sex, no sex means no more humans. Of course biology will triumph over religious dogma thank goodness but the GB are so out of order in their demented teachings, so hopelessly trying to fight against human nature.
The GB vision is mental castration, intellectual lobotomy, repressed emotion stifled education. What will be the result of this if taken literally over time: No babies in the cong and a dwindling JW army of neurotic children in adult's bodies.
jw don't believe in evolution .
how come animals teeth are designed to chew meat?
sharks for instance have razor sharp pointy teeth these are not to eat vegetation .
How come animals teeth are designed to chew meat?
The Bible may have said that animals were "designed" or created but the scientific evidence found in geology, paleontology and genome studies shows that animals evolved. To think otherwise indicates that you are prepared to defy a reality for the sake of religious belief.
The Bible is a book of fables but science has methods for determining factual evidence.
if god is the creator, who created god or how did he evolve?.
If God is the creator, who created him and how did he evolve?
Rather too many questions and assumptions bunched together here Kate!
Your question firstly requires an explanation of the validity of a number of things before a rational answer could be made including: a; the existence of spirit gods b; the ability of spirits to make things c; the ability of a spirit god or gods to make everything d; the origin of spirit gods, e; can spirits evolve?
Where is the concrete evidence for belief in spirits or gods outside of the impressionable human imagination? How are we ever to know about things which we cannot sense in any way, even if we use instruments to amplify our five senses?
God is a ‘thing’, it is resolutely unknowable and therefore I suggest, irrelevant to the future of mankind.
I suggest the "creator" error lies in a childish mistake in assuming
that 'persons' make all things. Some things do evolve and most easily of all do ideas
evolve notably the concept of God.
YHVH began as an ox-headed god, one of the seventy sons (seventy male offspring was a must for all patriarchs!) of the God El whose consort Ashera later became identified as the son Yahweh’s consort. (It happens all the time in myth). So starting as an idol in the Canaanite pantheon, Yahweh evolved, as society evolved, through henotheism (worship of one god among many) towards monolatry (worship of one god) to a recent incarnation becoming associated with the brand name of the Watchtower Society god Jehovah. The WT having borrowed the name from earlier religious thought and made it a dominant idea to suppress the prominence of Jesus and the trinity doctrine to enhance their own identity in the religious marketplace.
Who created the creator?
The human mind is the creator of God.There are good neurological reasons within the architecture of the brain born from mammalian evolution which have given rise to it. A satisfying elucidation of which cannot realistically be reduced to a sentence or two.
so real quick, i know this comes up now and then and i've looked over some of the posts from the past but here's the thing.. when i was a jw i drank all the cool aid, i was 100% and so i have all my own arguments (from the jw's) for why the bible is inspired.
i no longer believe this but i'd really like to read something that is pretty much 100% academic on this subject.
i want to read what scholars have to say about the authenticity of the bible and it's claim at being the inspired word of god.
Noah's flood is a myth, a complete and utter myth...there is no evidence for it at all and it could not have happened for many reasons. Yet Jesus (and Peter) believed it.
It is easy for characters in story books to believe spurious events.
When Paul (probably a real person) spoke of "all scripture being inspired of God and beneficial" there was no Bible. In context with Greek language usage of his time, "all scripture" just referred to the category of any writings of an upbuilding nature. What a folly it is to be a literalist!
The Bible is just a list of texts which a religious authority approves for the promotion of its own doctrines.
So Freeandclear should you want more academic books than already mentioned, anything by the outstanding textual and history scholar Thomas L Thompson is authoritative. I recommend his Messiah Myth, Pimlico,2007.(The Near Eastern roots of Jesus and David). Also, The Bible in History; How writers create a past, Pimlico,1999 by the same author.
looks like chelmsford is going ahead after all.
here is the text of a letter to be read out this week:.
to all congregations in britain and irelandre: branch relocation project updatedear brothers:we rejoice to inform you that in june of this year, the governing body gave approval for thebritain branch to relocate to new facilities that will be constructed just south of chelmsford.
Recycled toilet waste on a toxic site infested with Japanese knotweed, added to which the threat of fly blown rotting corpses wherever you step and a government of seven under-educated and deluded clowns............or do I have a jaundiced viewpoint?
i have been out for 23 years , so i`m not up to date with current practices.. however i was "in" for 33 years and belonged to 7 congregations in two states of australia in that time 1960-1993 , and not once could i say the general public ever attended a public talk.. in our witnessing back then we would distribute invitations to a public talk on a bible subject given before the wt study.every week.. some of the congregations i attended had between 80 to 100 active publishers , and most would give at least 10 hours service pw.,so that means hundreds of invitations would go out , week after week , for the public to attend talks, and nobody and i mean nobody shows up , year in and year out.. sure , now and again maybe ,one or two bible studies would have attended , but that does not constitute the public attending .. what are your thoughts on this ?
was it the same in congregations you attended ?
smiddy.
I guess that one odd curious individual must have turned up at some point over the years somewhere...surely? Ahh! that must have been Mr Ron Scratchings of Wilmslow, myopic and a bit deaf who in April 1953 thought he was attending a Baptist meeting.
The reality of the public talk is that it is a JW ritual. Rituals give the believer the chance to demonstrate fidelity to the cult. In turn this creates a sense of belonging and consequently an identity. The secondary function is the talk script supplies a means of hammering home and battening down the JW doctrine into the hearts of true believers.
It is the opportunity to take on board the standard false arguments of why the JW org is always right and every other religion is from Satan.
Who else would willingly want to listen to dull Watchtower rhetoric apart from the already committed? Same with the WT study; dull recycled garbage lacking in truth or having any content value at all. Ideal stuff for the die-hard, lobotomised JW zombies.
Btw, well done to all those public speakers who with compassion tried to invigorate the propaganda with a semblance of warmth and humanity. Total waste of time though!
...is an epic triumph is emotional manipulation.
bringing together all of the stories they told thus far and placing them int he "new world" complete with the little boy who was killed in a car accident coming back from the dead.. i have a good friend who is stuck in with family and plays the role.
he said everyone was crying, and the people next to him rated the videos by how many tissues they needed to dry their eyes.
The word which springs to my mind is 'schmalz'. It is an extraordinary glob of sentimentality with a total absence of fact. Compelling for for people who are driven by the lure of fantasy.
I recall Tony Morris's put-down that critical thinking is manipulative!
And this isn't?!
shouldn't they say thanks for" holding down the fort" until we take over?.
Because the United Nation's aim is to maintain peace by secular cooperation and if they were to prove to be successful the Watchtower claims and status would be diminished since it tells the world (rather feebly) that it alone has a magical solution.
In a religious cult it is a good thing to have 'goodies' and 'baddies' then the tiny minds of the believers know who to cheer and who to boo. Visible enemies make your spritual cause seem more real.
God and Jesus are constructs of the human imagination and therefore cannot hate or love.
i was a 4th gen born in.my adult children were the 5th.
my mother was one of the newly'anointed' we have all left.

You are very welcome here notalone. I do hope that your daughter recovers from her trauma and with your genuine care becomes a confident adult.
Glad you all woke up...that is wonderful! You are now all on the road to recovery and back to the sane world of normal people. Take the leisurely path, it takes a while to normalise and get your individuality back.
